We are pleased to have "Better than Nothing", a solo exhibition by painter Sohei Yamamoto.
This time Sohei presents the city landscape with figures. Even if he doesn't paint a figure in it, he leaves a touch of the residents' presence, such as a motorbike and laundry.
Such things, the lived-in feel of ordinary life tends to be cut out from works of art, but the painter dares to depict it.
With the exhibition title "Better than Nothing", Sohei expresses what he hopes remain in the city.
The scenery of private-run shops, narrow alleys, eavas and neighborly ties, and so on, are disappearing from the city of Tokyo because of an urban-development.
Downtown, where those traditional lifestyles remain, catches the painter's heart.
Please come and feel the wind that swings the laundry, sunlight that moves crossing the alleys and wharm of downtown residents.
You would be a part of authentic Japan.
